What is SCI to me?
Scholar-Citizen was the way for me to really showcase my work and involvement at Radford University. SCI was able to give me a unique way of showing others as well as myself the relevance of all my course work to real life experiences. When I walk across the stage this May I will feel confident in my experiences and involvement to prosper as a functioning member of society. Being able to think critically about issues as well as think about them in viewpoints that differ from my own is extremely gratifying, and again sets me apart from my peers who may have never been challenged in such ways.
With SCI, I am competent to problem solve and challenge myself to use the leadership and mentor skills I have gained during my undergraduate experiences. Having these skills going into the workforce makes me feel immensely confident that I will not only gain a job but build a career to be proud of. Using the knowledge I have learned in the classroom and applying it to my involvement and community work outside of the classroom is what SCI means to me; being given the opportunity to show how much I have learned and gained not just my grades. I hope to carry the learning outcomes I have applied my work to with me to the workforce and graduate school with a goal grow my knowledge, experiences, and personally.
